You Donโt Have to Have It All Figured Out to Belong Here
The Creative Reading Circle
Join a small group of women for meaningful conversation, personal reflection, mindful creativity, and genuine connection from the comfort of your home.
Enrollment is intentionally limited so there is room for every woman to be heard, participate at her own pace, and feel part of a respectful, supportive group.
Maybe This Feels Familiar
You care deeply, and you try to do things well. You want the people around you to be happy, your responsibilities handled, and at least a few of those spinning plates to remain safely in the air. Somewhere along the way, though, doing your best can quietly turn into expecting far too much from yourself.
Whenever I teach a mindful art class, I usually ask, โWho here is a perfectionist?โ Almost every hand goes up. Mine included, although I call myself a recovering perfectionist these days.
Most of us know the pressure to get things right, avoid mistakes, meet expectations, and appear to have everything under control. We may be in very different seasons of life, but our concerns are often surprisingly similar. We worry about the people we love, our relationships, work, health, purpose, and whatever may be coming next.
That is one of the reasons these conversations matter so much. They remind us that we are far more alike than we think.
More Than Reading a Book Together
A meaningful book can give us new language for something we may have felt for years. It can challenge an old belief, offer a perspective we had not considered, or make us stop halfway through a paragraph and think, โWell, that hit a little close to home.โ
The book gives us a shared starting point, but the deeper experience comes from what happens around it.
During the Creative Reading Circle, we will explore the ideas through thoughtful conversation, personal reflection, simple creative practices, and gentle grounding exercises. You will have time to consider how the themes connect to your own life while also hearing the experiences and perspectives of other women.
You will never be expected to have the perfect answer, create impressive artwork, or share anything you would rather keep private. There are no gold stars for the deepest insight or the prettiest page.
You can simply arrive with curiosity and participate in whatever way feels right for you.
Why The Gifts of Imperfection?
Brenรฉ Brownโs work explores many of the things women talk about quietly, wrestle with privately, and often assume everyone else has already figured out. Spoiler alert: they usually havenโt.
Together, we will explore themes such as:
This is a book I find myself returning to because its message feels deeply relevant. It does not ask us to stop caring, growing, or doing meaningful things. It invites us to consider whether our worth has become tangled up in how well we believe we are performing, and that is a conversation worth having.
Before we begin the weekly reading discussions, we will meet for a relaxed Welcome Call.
You will have a chance to meet the other women, learn how the Circle will work, talk through our community agreements, and ask any questions before we officially begin.
Think of it as easing into the experience rather than being dropped into the deep end on day one.
We will meet online once a week for approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Each gathering will follow a gentle structure while leaving enough room for the conversations to unfold naturally.
Our time together may include:
Before each gathering, you will receive an email with the weekโs reading, reflection questions, practical details, and an optional prompt to help you arrive feeling prepared.
This is not homework in disguise. You are already a grown woman with more than enough on your plate.
The emails are simply there to help you stay connected to the experience and give you something tangible to think about between gatherings.
Sometimes words are not quite enough yet, and creativity gives us another way to explore an idea.
Our exercises may include simple drawing, journaling, line work, color, visual reflection, or other easy-to-follow practices. Everything will be explained clearly, and no artistic experience is needed.
There is no hidden โgood at artโ requirement tucked away in the fine print. You may even discover a few new creative tools you enjoy enough to keep using long after the Circle ends.
This is not about turning yourself into a shiny new version of who you think you should be. You do not need a personal rebrand. It is simply an opportunity to understand yourself a little better and loosen your grip on some of the pressure you may no longer want to carry.
You May Feel at Home Here Ifโฆ
You are curious about personal growth and enjoy conversations that go a little deeper than the weather, grocery lists, and what everyone is making for dinner.
You would like to explore a meaningful book with other thoughtful women instead of reading it alone, underlining half of it, and then immediately moving on to the next thing.
You are open to reflection and creativity, even if you do not consider yourself artistic. No artistic talent, secret sketchbook, or perfectly coordinated art supplies required.
You appreciate warmth, humor, honesty, and hearing perspectives that may be different from your own.
You want a small, respectful group where you can contribute, listen, and participate without feeling pressured to share more than feels comfortable.
You understand that every woman arrives with her own experiences, beliefs, and season of life. The purpose of the Circle is connection, curiosity, and exploration, not fixing one another, handing out unsolicited advice, or gossip.
A Thoughtful Fit Matters
This Circle is designed for personal reflection, creativity, conversation, and community. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, crisis support, or a substitute for working with a licensed mental health professional.
Because the group will be small and personal, I would like to have a brief conversation with every interested woman before confirming her place.
Please donโt worry. This is not an interview, and there are no perfect answers to prepare. It is simply a relaxed chat that gives us both a chance to talk about what you are hoping for, answer your questions, and make sure the Circle feels like the right kind of experience for you.
Protecting the spirit of the group matters to me. I want the women who join to be genuinely interested in thoughtful conversation, reflection, creativity, and respectful connection so that everyone feels comfortable showing up as herself.
Welcome Call: Monday, July 20
Weekly Gatherings: Mondays at 7 PM ET
Circle Dates: August 3 through September 14
Location: Zoom
Group Size: Up to 10 women
Founding Member Offer: $245*
Book: The Gifts of Imperfection by Brenรฉ Brown
Because this is a live small-group experience, minor schedule adjustments may occasionally be necessary. Any changes will be communicated in advance and, whenever possible, made with the groupโs availability in mind.
This is the very first Creative Reading Circle, and the women who join will help me bring to life an idea I have been working on for quite a while.
The Founding Member investment is $245, which is 30% below the regular investment for a seven-week Circle. Founding Members will also receive preferred pricing on future Creative Reading Circles.
Because this is our first Circle, I may ask for your honest feedback along the way. I want to know what felt especially valuable, what could be clearer, and what would make future Circles even better. I expect there will also be laughter, thoughtful conversations, unexpected insights, and moments that stay with us long after the final gathering.
For many years, women have trusted me with their family memories, personal stories, creative uncertainty, and the occasional confession that they have no idea what they are doing, either in front of my camera or with a pen in their hand.
Honestly, most of us are figuring things out as we go. I know I do.
I began as a photographer and artist, and over time, my own path led me more deeply into mindful creativity, personal growth, reflection, and the ways art can help us reconnect with ourselves.
I am a Certified Zentangleยฎ Teacher, Certified AM Methodโข Teacher, EME Integration Practitioner (Life Coach), Master Sound Healer, and NeuroGraphica Basic User.
More importantly, I am a deeply caring human being on my own healing and personal growth journey.
I am not standing outside the Circle with all the answers. I will be right there with you, asking questions, guiding the experience, offering creative tools, and making room for the wisdom and perspectives each woman brings. I am here to learn, too.
The Creative Reading Circle grew naturally from the evolution of ArtCafe Photography into ArtCafe Studios.
It brings together the things I care about most: story, creativity, honest conversation, reflection, and connection.
Tell me a little about yourself, why the Circle caught your attention, and what you hope to experience.
We will arrange a relaxed conversation over the phone or via Zoom. You can ask questions, and we can talk about whether the Circle feels like a good mutual fit.
When we both feel comfortable moving forward, I will send your registration and payment information.
Your place is confirmed once registration and payment are complete.
No. The creative practices are simple, guided, and designed for reflection. You do not need previous art experience, special talent, or a secret drawer full of expensive supplies.
No. Sharing is always optional. You are welcome to listen, reflect privately, and participate at your own comfort level.
No. This is a facilitated reading and creative reflection experience, not therapy, counseling, medical care, or crisis support. It is not a substitute for working with a qualified mental health or medical professional when that kind of support is needed.
The experience will be most meaningful when you attend regularly, but life occasionally has other plans. Please review the dates before expressing interest and let me know about any expected conflicts during our conversation.
Yes. The gatherings will be recorded solely for my private use as the facilitator. Reviewing them will help me reflect on what worked well, improve future sessions, and prepare the weekly follow-up emails without trying to guide the conversation and take detailed notes at the same time.
The recordings will never be shared, published, sold, or provided to participants as make-up sessions. Access will be limited to me, and each recording will be deleted within 14 days after the gathering.
Everyone will be informed before the recording begins and must agree to the recording policy before joining the Circle. If you would like to share something during a gathering that you do not feel comfortable having recorded, simply let me know or send me a private message in the Zoom chat. I will pause the recording before you continue and resume it afterward. You never need to explain why.
Yes. Each participant will need access to their own copy of The Gifts of Imperfection. You are welcome to purchase a printed copy, borrow it from the library, or use a digital or audiobook edition. Choose whichever format works best for you.
You will receive a simple supply list before the Circle begins. Most exercises will use basic materials such as paper, a pen, a pencil, and optional color.
We will create clear community agreements asking everyone to respect the privacy of what others share. As with any group gathering, absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed, which is another reason I speak with each woman before confirming her place.
Yes. The Creative Reading Circle is designed for women age 18 and older. The conversations are intended for adults and may include personal reflections on relationships, family, work, identity, purpose, and life experience.
Zoom allows women to join from the comfort of home without adding traffic, travel time, or another complicated outing to the week. You can settle into your favorite chair, bring a cup of tea or glass of wine, and arrive exactly as you are. PJs and a messy bun are perfectly acceptable.
It also opens the Circle to women who may not live nearby while still keeping the group small, personal, and connected.
I will contact you personally. Completing the form expresses interest. It does not register you, reserve a place, or require payment.
You do not need to come with answers or artistic talent. You can simply show up, listen, join the conversation when it feels right, and see what comes up along the way.
Our Welcome Call is July 20, followed by seven Monday evening gatherings beginning August 3.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy, I would love to talk with you.
The Creative Reading Circle is independently created and facilitated by ArtCafe Studios and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Brenรฉ Brown, her publisher, or any related organization.
